Hardness testing can be performed on rubber, plastics, and fine chemicals for their physicochemical properties. Specifically, the testing areas vary depending on the product's application, but can be subdivided as follows:

 

Plastics testing areas include: Resin raw materials, plastic films, plastic pipes, plastic building materials, plastic containers, plastic casings, plastic toys, wire and cable sheathing and insulation, and plastic profiles.

 

Rubber testing areas include: Raw rubber, tires, fenders, sealing rings, hoses, wire and cable sheathing and insulation, rubber toys, conveyor belts, and fast-moving consumer goods.

 

Fine chemicals testing areas include: Coatings, adhesives, metalworking aids, and various cleaning agents.
